The Suite Urban Theme
MTV Unplugged... and the lost art of live soul.
There once was a time, long before “Tiny Desks” and “COLORS” performances when artists had a drummer, a guitarist, their backup singers, and a true live audience.
It was soulful and organic.
You couldn’t see the artist- but you could hear them in a way that technology advancements seems to have overriden. No lossless or high quality sound could capture the soul and the mystery that we’ve seem to have left behind.
You had to guess if D’Angelo was laughing while he sang, or if an audience member was acting a little unruly during a live Jay-Z band impromptu. When you truly had to envision the scenery of the environment- it put your mind to work. That mystique made it more alive, and inevitability pulled you deeper into the music.
Even if you couldn’t stream it.
